![]() Things like this were all taking into consideration. Some nutrients were provided through enhancing microbial life itself. For example, some "Nutes" provide water soluble and in-soluble forms of nitrogen, some have more magnesium than others, various forms of micro-nutes are provided in drastically different ways. Next, I researched ingredients and specified which nutrient each provided and at roughly what %. I broke them down into general grow, bloom, micro and additives groups. ![]() ![]() To begin this project, I started with a variety of products, most chosen because of some success I've had with them at one point or another. It's the ingredients and microbial action's taking place that will dictate which nute I found superior. As long as nutrients are available in the proper ratios most leading nutrient manufacturers should and did produce similar results. Most plants generally grow between a pH of 5.5 and 7.5 (measured on a range from 0 to 14, 14 being the most alkaline). This rhizophere thrives best with a balanced amount of potential hydrogen. This microbial exchange of food takes place directly around the root zone, called the rhizophere. This process is the exchange of the negative hydrogen ions (called anions) for positive hydrogen ions attached to nutrients (called cations). Plants absorb nutrients through water bound hydrogen osmosis. Simply put, pH (potential Hydrogen) is a measurement of how acidic vs alkaline your substrate and/or nutrient solution is. ![]() Similarly, pH must be taken into consideration with every application under comparative conditions. This conversion is less accurate but perfectly appropriate for this test. This % has to be converted to ppm to properly determine how strong in individual nutes a solution may be. Most organic solutions contain nutrients in microbial form - not salts and are explained typically in %. In organic soils and with soluble organic fertilizers its difficult to directly apply the ppm form of measurements. Roughly advised ppm counts should be between 5. Most popular digital ppm meters measure EC and convert it to ppm. If the EC is to low not enough nutrients will be absorbed. If this EC climbs too high, specific nutrient absorption will stop. Salts(ions) conduct electricity from one to the other, the more salts (ions) - the more electrical conductivity (EC). When nutrients are dissolved in water, they take on an electrical charge, known as an ion. When working with mostly soluble fertilizers it's important to understand what this means. These parts per million represent literally how many "nutrient" salts you have vs. This "amount" is based on a variety of aspects including size, strain, mediums and calculated typically through a parts per million count (ppm). Under the right conditions and depending on it's stage Marijuana absorbs a maximum amount of each nute it needs. Through numerous head to head testing and numerical comparisons I've eliminated some products and discovered an understanding of nutes and more importantly, they're ingredient's. In nutrient, plant and grower compatibility I believe many things need consideration. This Aspect however, led me to develop a program that worked for my marijuana strain and me. There are obvious exceptions, Advanced Nutrients and Humboldt to name a few but the majority hide behind tomatoes and fruit - that's another issue unto itself. As many companies still haven't fully immersed themselves in the "marijuana community" it's hard to trust the nute schedules they offer or results they claim in relationship to cannabis. Some products out there are painfully expensive and claim results beyond compare. As I make a living growing medicinal marijuana, quality production, efficiency and price were all taken into consideration. The following is a comprehensive, independent comparison of 8 various nutrient applications and my experiences with them. Like, getting the Mount Kimbie thing is crazy to me, they’ve been so influential for me and my music. I’m like, “this is my list” and we just go out to them, and some of them say yes, some say now, but I’m just like “who are my favourite producers and artists right now” and yeah, I’m fortunate enough to actually be able to get responses from these people. I mean, just like whoever my favourite artists are. ![]() So I guess on a similar tip, you’ve got the remixes part one of Palaces out featuring some amazing producers from like Logic1000 to legendary Mount Kimbie flipping your tracks, how do you decide who would suit what remix? 20 demos later he’s like “alright, here we go, this one’s cool”. No no, he was into something, but just the whole time we’re just sitting there and I’m like “next?” and he’s like “yep, next”. I can only imagine getting the Albarn rejection on ideas, did he let you down lightly at least? But yeah, I played him a lot of demos and he didn’t like most of them, and there was just this one, kind of at the end of the pile that he finally jumped on, and I was very relieved that he was into something because it could have been nothing *laughs* Scary as fuck working with him, I was sweating. The Damon thing… I was just always a huge fan of Blur, of Gorillaz, so that was kind of a dream come true. *laughs* She’s just so talented, and she has such an unusual voice and it’s really nice for production because her voice is so high, it just kind of sits and you can do all sorts of wild things, where sometimes I find with male vocals, that can be more difficult because they take up a larger space in the mix. I guess I’ve worked with Kucka a lot on a lot of different things, we just work together great, it’s almost like we’re a little band, just thinking about starting a band with Laura… What about, at what point does collaboration come in? The new album has a huge number of guests, from Perth expat Kucka to someone like Damon Albarn, how does that side of things work?Ī lot if it’s just timing. But yeah, there’s so much stuff that doesn’t get used, but I’m actually having a bit of fun now, kind of posting stuff just on social media that’s kind of, I don’t know if it’s gonna come out or now, but I post it and if it gets a good response I’m like “alright, maybe I’ll finish this”. Honestly, I just kind of make a bunch of things and then after like, a few years, I’m like “alright, I really need to put out a record, what have we got?” and I’ll kind of go in and listen to all the things that I have and be like “this one definitely needs to be on the record”, you know, just kind of pick songs and try and kind of finish them and just make something out of it all. I can only imagine your unfinished projects folders and demos and stuff! So when you’re going through demos and revisiting, how does stuff make the final cut for the album? It’s been fun playing it out as well, because some of these demos have been sitting on my hard drive for years, so to finally be able to have them out into the world, but then be able to play them at shows and see fand kind of like, just knowing the tracks and stuff and singing, it’s really satisfying. So there’s always a little bit of that, but yeah it’s been really nice and it’s good to have it out into the world. I think it’s always been bittersweet because I’ve kind of been working towards this thing for quite a while, and then you’re a bit, you know, once it comes out it’s kind of like “fuck… what’s the new direction? What do I do now?”. So your new album Palaces has been out for a few months and I wanted to ask about some of the inspiration, especially the flora and fauna influence and field recordings sort of stuff, which is beautiful, but yeah, how’s it feeling having it out for a few months now? How’s the reception been? Having made a name for himself over the last decade with his relentless touring and engaging live shows, remixes, mixtapes and second studio album Skin in 2016, this year Flume dropped his acclaimed and already award nominated third album Palaces back in May.īuilding on his signature sound, Palaces is an energetic and experimental journey through modern electronic music, inspired by the flora and fauna of the Northern New South Wales (with the album featuring field recordings of birds layered in the mix), while featuring a stack of notable collaborators including the likes of KU ČKA, Caroline Polachek, Damon Albarn and many more.Īhead of his 2022 Palaces Australian tour, as well as this awesome throwback interview we did with Harley where we dug deep into the Pilerats vault and showed him footage from a decade plus ago, we also chatted about all things new album and live show - get to know! If you're balancing for PvP, properly, you're considering a lot of different scenarios, and those scenarios change depending on the balancing decisions you make. (I've never understood the argument that not having to balance for PvE makes things easier. They may have a cunning plan to counter this, I don't know, but I know that this kind of PvP is extremely difficult to get right: I know of at least five games that have tried this style of PvP, more if you count games with only two factions, and I think there's really only been one, maybe two, unqualified successes. I'm also not arguing that they don't have good reason to think it's a good idea, it's just that the peculiarities of this kind of PvP means that asymmetric multiplayer is much more fragile than it is in, say, Starcraft. I have no illusions about that approach - It will be not easy, but only eased by no PvE & 1vs1 balancing: "Balancing this will be the ongoing nightmare." - Mark Jacobs, the CEO. One of my points was that they have a very good reason for somewhat painful, non-mirrored chaos of classes, and that it's actually not as silly as it might look at first glance. Tears, ragequits and forum dramas are inevitable part of that landscape. And of course, that feedback would be only a part in decision making. ![]() Every nerf will be the developer vendetta every buff, something they should have done a long time ago.īut of course, the "as long as all three." wasn't ment to be taken at face value It was said half jokingly and half about listenining carefully to who is actually very loud and annoyed, since all three factions are going to have vocal complainers no matter what. I'm willing to wait and see, but if one of the factions gets it into their head that they're underpowered, there's going to be no dislodging that. I think we've proved by now that just because both extremes are complaining doesn't mean you've found the happy medium. Also, horizontal leveling and no PvE gear treadmill will help a lot with eventual rerolls.įinally, perfectly balancing the Realms is, OFC, impossible but there is couple things that can be done, including zergs. People that played Mark's previous Dark Age of Camelot remember shouts such as "Hib for life!" very well =) Hard to achieve that if anybody can go anywhere and be anything, which is kind of "modern" approach. Locking people to one Realm per server, same as non-mirrored classes (and many other details), is very much connected to the Realm Pride and building the community. It will be some kind of rock-paper-scissors on the level of appropriate trios of classes (one from each realm) and somethng else on the level of Realms. Very important "detail" is that they don't have to balance, additionally, for PvE and/or 1vs1 which would make it not hard but impossible. ![]() It is good "as long as all three keep on complaining" (Andrew Meggs, CU Technical Director). Normally three-way fights eventually end up with one faction permanently locked out. I think, if you're locked to a faction, that's going to be hard to achieve.Īlso I don't know how they're going to manage keeping the teams even. One of the key reasons why asymmetric balance works is that players can play as the faction/character that beat them, and discover that they're not overpowered after all, they just suck at the game. I am looking forward to the inevitable complaints that the other faction is overpowered. ![]() It's extraordinary to understand that color doesn't matter.
